The Entrapment Spell is a form of Caster Magic introduced in "Ultimate Fairy" that involves the use of Dark Magic infecting a person's mind.
Description[]
The Entrapment Spell is one of the most dangerous spells in Earthland, with only two known survivors (Ben Tennyson and an unnamed mage). Brain stated that the spell was rumored to have been created by the Black Wizard Zeref. [1]
While it can be overcome initially, severe stress and/or depression can cause it to reactivate. The spell kills its victims by tormenting them emotionally, weakening their will to live, and eventually causing them to die. This includes being tormented by the previous victims of the spell, taking on illusion-like forms to mock the victim, and worst of all, making the victim experience their worst memory over and over again. In the case that the victim doesn't have a particular horrible memory, the spell will generate one using bad memories from across the victim's life.
The spell is conscious and, if threatened by mages that use magic to enter the host's mind, will take on the form of various manifestations of enemies the victim faced across their lifetime to kill its opposition. Uniquely, the spell also possesses a form of personality, being a sadist who enjoys mocking their victims, breaking them via verbal speeches and physical torment. It has a superiority complex against non-magicians, believing them to be powerless against it (which proved to be a fatal weakness against Ben, as it underestimated his mental resolve after Erza and he kissed, resulting in its banishment), and when overpowered, quickly becomes desperate and cowardly, unbelieving of its defeat.
